It doesn't matter what draws you. It matters that you're drawn.

I often ask retreat women what colors they are most drawn to wearing on their skin right now.⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Maybe it’s a color that has always felt signature for you. Maybe it’s an old childhood favorite that has resurfaced after years and calls yet again. (Me: all things green as a child!) Maybe it’s a new flirtation towards a color that has only begun incessantly winking at you.⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Be specific, I ask. Not blue, but teal or royal or turquoise or sky or ocean. Not red, but scarlet or burgundy or cherry or rust. Women get real specific. The first spring blossom of the crabapple tree kind of specific. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ It’s so strangely beautiful to notice our inherent preferences and how they move. What draws us, what magnetizes us, what magnifies the joy of our senses. We play with the broader palette, but some colors just seem to choose us. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ So with color, as with life. Life is like that in so many ways. Loving what we love. Being drawn to what we’re drawn to. Being fascinated by what we’re fascinated by - people, passions, places, creativity. Following the breadcrumbs of our inexplicable inclinations can lead us to more of ourselves. Whatever we’re drawn to seems drawn to us. When we participate with that magnetism, we align with the playful sway seeded within us. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ I remember an artist showing me her Japanese kimono collection. She held kimono parties as an offering. It was a deep joy to share them for her. Some people make the tiniest most exquisitely decorated cupcakes. Some read between the lines of the stars. Some spend hours polishing one sentence until it radiates. If you’re inside of your sway, you are often inside of love. And you need never explain why to anyone, even if you could. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ It doesn’t matter what draws you. It matters that you’re drawn. It doesn’t matter what fascinates you. It rather matters that you’re fascinated at all. It doesn’t matter what immerses you into the present beyond any sense of time or yourself. It matters that you experience that blissful union of presence. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ If it brings you joy and colors your life with meaning and beauty, it’s sacred. It’s love, however it calls to you. Love calls to love.
