storyteller within
women's sacred expression retreats
There is a quiet thread that runs through us—the one woven by our experience of the presence and absence of our mothers. In this circle, we gather as women to explore what lives in that thread: the tenderness, the ache, the longing, the love. While we will approach through the mother relationship, we are ultimately gathering to embrace and retrieve more of you.
Through guided writing, shared silence, and soft witnessing, we’ll listen for the words that stir beneath the surface—the ones still waiting to be spoken. Whether yours is a bond, a wound, something unnamed, or all of them at once, this is a space to write from the raw, the sacred, and the in-between.
Whether shaped by love, longing, grief, or healing, our motherlines carry emotions and stories that ask for space and voice. Through guided prompts, reflection, and shared storytelling, we’ll touch upon the mother bond and mother wound — writing our way toward compassion, clarity, and connection.
This is a space to pause, to gather what lives within you, and to honor whatever the season is bringing to the surface.
You do not need to be a writer. You do not need to be a mother.
You only need to be open to your raw embodied experience as well as the expansive and liberating truth inside of your own heart.
This writing circle will invite you to:
- Be seen and heard and held in a safe space with a group of women.
- Honor and be witnessed for your embodied and lived experience.
- Allow for the multitudes and complexity of all of your feelings.
- Re-member and retrieve more of you from stuck spaces within.
- Hold contrast, texture and nuance for how the relationship lives within you.
- Breathe spaciousness into your heart where pain or grief or joy lives.
- Touch with love and understanding the spaces that hold tenderness or pain.
- Bring empathy, appreciation and awe to the progression of your maternal line.
- Open to the liberating truths and perspectives that exist in your heart.
- Please note, your sharing is (and will always be) optional each time.
This gathering is NOT about:
- Technical, craft-based or critical review of your writing.
- Advice on writing as a craft, such as structure, voice or editing.
- Pre-reading or takeaway materials: it's an in-the-moment experience.
- While women find reflective and self-expressive journaling therapeutic and liberating, this circle is not "therapy." You are guided to your own wisdom.

Grounding the retreat spirit in the online space...
Across many circles, live and online, I have cultivated a gathering space for women for over a decade - to share their experiences, expand their perspectives, reconnect with their inner voices, face their fears, hone their intuition, voice their raw words and move more boldly into their essential energy and own sacred expression - while holding witness and space for each other to do the same.
In this circle, writing is a channel to allow vulnerability, reveal insight and enchant new possibilities. This transformational gathering has inspired many women, by their own words, to allow and embrace more of who they are and to move into a trajectory of greater self-honoring and becoming.
The live and dynamic retreat drop-in circle is designed to hold the nurturing dynamic of the women's circle. We will get to know more than each other's names and faces. Each participant will be seen and heard and have the open invitation to share in each session. It remains optional, prompt by prompt! We are probably going to laugh and cry.
I invite you to see how quickly magic forms when women gather in the spirit of witness.
All my love xoxo
Aimee

about the facilitator:
Aimee Hansen is the Creator of Storyteller Within women's retreats, recommended by Lonely Planet and included several years in a row among 'Incredible Writing Retreats to Attend' by The Write Life.
Her own journey with her motherline has included navigating the tender space that opened when a new truth was brought into her awareness in 2011, ultimately leading to the pause that birthed these circles and retreats. She feels part of her dharma is to open a space for women where you can say anything and know you are loved.
Aimee ventured into this soul work when she was compelled to offer women's circle retreats in early 2015. The retreats offer an embodied experience with women where the writing is alive and immediate and woven into a bigger picture by the group, and where women together brave the conversations with self we often yearn (but avoid) to have.
To date, she has facilitated 28 live events across a decade, dozens of online circles, and holds over 1000++ immersed circle hours of intuitive facilitation in reconnecting women with their own voices. Aimee views her role in the circle as communal, reflective and catalytic. Her desire is for you to feel connected, open, seen, heard, expressive and expansive.
Her self-guided retreat journal - "This Book Is a Retreat: 101 Soul-Nourishing Questions to Reconnect with Yourself" - a co-creation with friend and bestselling author Marianne Richmond, will be released on August 22nd, 2025 and is already available for pre-order now. May the circle expand.
