Tonight I sat with sisters circled 'round a boiling pot beneath a moon so nearly full tub water far too hot the elements have been let loose the wind will not be tamed and moon will cross with earth and sun before tomorrow's named we stirred the steam with fingertips dipped toes and dangled feet and searched for cauldron spoons or sticks to whip and wane the heat and by the time we stepped on earth and wished the pot farewell whose to say we didn't cast the shadow of a spell (Aimee Hansen)
