Do You Remember?

Remember when we sat around the fire, and the shadows of the flames danced across her face. And you recalled the words she said, which could have been yours, spoken as though to your own heart.
Remember when you read that one line you wrote, and it wasn't until you said it aloud that it came to you that you had done it. That slowly and suddenly, you had liberated yourself from an ache you once struggled to name.
Remember the way the volcanoes guarded over you as you awoke into day. As you slid into the slumber of night. How you heard once, or perhaps only now, that whilst you may gaze upon beauty, majesty gazes upon you. How you felt inside of majesty.
Remember the hummingbirds. How they came not only in spirit, but also appeared in the gardens, and flit between the nectar of flowers, as you sipped your coffee and the breeze whispered sweetly into your silence, tempting you into new visions.
Remember that moment free of witness entirely. When you forgot that anybody else was watching, because rare as it may be, nobody was. Each was with herself. How you let yourself move not to the music, but to the rhythm emerging through your senses within.
Remember when she was watching, in full presence, and you didn't hurry and you didn't hide. And you didn't have to. You took your space and time. It was yours to fill. And you invited yourself into it.
Remember how the convergence of vibrations traveled through your cells until your awareness floated upon the lake. How you sweat a sacred sweat while chanting to the warm, eternal drumbeat of the mother. How your limbs stretched toward a sun that simultaneously stretched back toward you.
Remember how you were no longer certain if you'd written your wants or you'd received their wanting of you. You were not sure if you'd arrived here only days ago or if a part of you had always been here, waiting for you to walk in.
Remember how there was something you wanted to give these women who sat with you, something you wanted for them to feel and to know. And it was in this wanting it for them, that you finally realized the futility and the pain of withholding it from yourself.
Remember the surrender. The moment words could not enter into. Remember the soft beauty of the surrender. Yours, and yours alone.
Do you remember? Do you want to remember?
